Brief Case Management Services
Provide intermittent support, two or three months, to consumers and families to assist them
with whatever problem they are faced with, and to determine whether lengthier long-term services
are required. This is intended to allow those who do not require a higher level of support to
maintain their achieved quality of life. While considering to be non-intensive support it serves
a critical role in preventing the use of more intensive services when these are not required.
Single Session Team Consultation
This function is designed to provide solution-focused, short term assistance by allowing the client
to consult with a staff team. A two-hour team consultation will be followed by a written summary
of the session that is mailed to the client in tandem with telephone follow-up. This approach has
been found to be quite effective. CMHA Durham was the first known Agency to implement this unique
service to the Durham community.
Individual Solution-Focused Counselling
Provides individualized one-on-one counselling that looks towards individuals' futures outside of their
mental health concerns. It is a preventative approach to keep individuals from slipping into more serious
mental health problems. Its goal is to assist clients using a time-limited solution-focused approach.
This approach builds on already existing strengths and solutions.
